The Olympics of Business...

Networking, competition, referrals, pricing, benefits...so many words to help our businesses grow. The interesting aspect of a Chamber versus networking groups is that a Chamber allows multiple organizations to be members, even if they provide the exact same service.

So, to compare a Chamber to the Olympics is interesting. There are hundreds of athletes with dozens performing the same sport all representing different countries. All individuals, and the countries they represent, are after the same goal...to win, to be honored, and to win the gold. However, each individual is bringing his or her own talent, personality, and determination to the stage. All countries competing for the same goal, however, the fact is, it is an individual who wins....a person.

The Chamber world is similar in that there are many member organizations providing the same service. However, it is the people who make the difference. It is the person you meet and connect with who will help determine the fit for you and your organization, or whom you will refer them to...that connection face to face (or via zoom)....person to person.

Basically people make up a Chamber, not brick and mortar, just as the individuals competing in the Olympics actually make up the competition, not the land they represent. Friendly competition is healthy and beneficial. You want to do business with people you like, connect with, and trust.

Therefore, join a Chamber even if we have other businesses just like yours, selling, providing, or manufacturing the same product. Be the face of your business and prove to others that it is you, your honesty, your personality, as well as your willingness to help, support and/or refer businesses; and your organization will flourish and get the gold!
