Rule of 7

Back in College, as I sat listening to the professor drone on, he presented the Marketing Rule of 7. This "rule" states that a prospect needs to “hear” an advertiser’s or salesperson's message at least 7 times before taking action to buy that particular product or service. In order to get recognition and interaction for your brand, there needs to be 7 "touches."


In today's world, there are a variety of ways to connect with your target audience. This can be done through Social Media, Networking Groups, One to one meetings, email...and of course through events and seminars held by your own Chamber of Commerce.


With Social Media, you can repeat your message over and over several times, hopefully modifying to "mix it up" and catch someone's attention. There are various tools depending on your product or service and of course who your target consumer is.


While you don't want to inundate inboxes with multiple emails that can be deleted, be selective, be creative...you want it to be opened.


Utilize fun pictures that catch someone's eye. Use videos and photos, keeping videos long enough to convey your message but short enough not to lose them...with social media, the attention span is very short.


Tap into that Rule of 7...make it your rule, and your consumers, clients, customers will reap the rewards!


7 Times....Now if only our kids would come through when you ask them to do something 7 times (minimum!)!!!!
