Are you a go-getter?

We often hear that successful businesspeople are “Go-Getters!” We advise our youth to get out there and, “Go get things done” in order to succeed. Our sales personnel are advised to “go get” those sales! A popular goal for many is to focus on getting business, getting recognition, getting promoted, getting that client or customer. But is that really how we should be focused?

A wise woman recently shared that she was advised many years ago that the best way to interact with others is to act as a “Go-Giver.” As we connect with others, our emphasis should be on what can be given to support and assist. The quote by St. Francis of Assisi asserts, “For it is in giving that we receive.” By providing yourself as a resource, you will be thanked and remembered, and eventually you will reap the rewards when a requirement for your specialty is needed...and you get that referral!

It can be 4 simple words, “How can I help?” And honestly, doesn’t it feel great when you are able to help someone!?

This “Go-giver” attitude can be one’s philosophy in business and in our personal lives.

· What can you do to help a local business obtain recognition?

· What can you do for the person you are having a one-on-one with that will help them obtain the kind of referral they need?

· How can you support their establishment?

· What are the resources needed to assist in growing someone’s business or client base?

This mindset is also applicable to community involvement. How can you:

· Give Back?

· Give your time?

· Give needed resources?

Maybe it’s time you became a Go-Giver?
